We do actually use masspay (and thereby incur a charge) but I don't think we did in the case of kevenh, as his was the only Paypal payment that week - so that would explain it. kevenh - please email me a screenshot of the charge and we'll refund it to you

I wonder if there is a limit to how much you can get per year or lifetime of your paypal account after which they charge you.

Once my personal account was free. Now unless I pay up front the person I am sending money to has to pay. I only get money for free if the sender is using masspay. Nice and quick as you can do thousands of transactions in a few minutes using masspay but to save time paypal make a charge. So it looks as if some of us will be charged by paypal or the site has to pay.

Is it fair to expect the site to pay for paypal? Depends on how much it costs the site to send paypal payments and how much paypal would charge. When inhouse costs are more than paypal then masspay makes sense but probably not at the moment.

We've made several payments by Paypal and I haven't had any other reports of charges. I'm wondering whether there was something specific about the way we made kevenh's payment

I'd prefer to use PayPal if I don't get charged for the privilige - same way it worked on a now defunct site.

I have a free account but have to pay to send money (unless I pay up front so the recipient doesn't lose out).

THe only way paypal here is a freebie is if a) Richard pays the fees for us or b) saves time by paying to use the mass pay facility.

I am assuming that not a lot of people are asking for paypal at the monent so the money paid for mass pay is not worth it. And if Richard pays the fees up front then he/the site lose money.
