Re: Today marks the 50th anniversary of an important event...

This is an oddity - but shows that reactionary influences exist everywhere :shh: In the Irish Constitution of 1937, the method of election was fixed as Proportional Representation, Single Transferable Vote (PR-STV). This was quite revolutionary in replacing the First-Past-The-Post system inherited ...

Today marks the 50th anniversary of an important event...

I received the following email which some members may like to read:... " Today marks the 50th anniversary of an important event in ERS history: on the 16th October 1968, our former Director Enid Lakeman led the Society's victorious campaign which contributed to the successful defence of fair vo...

Re: Bordering on the ridiculous...

This boarder issue is being used as a sticking point when it really doesn't need to be; perhaps it's a way the EU thinks it can force the UK into some sort of submission on agreements? But perhaps they should look at their own back doors... Those of you who get ShareRadio newsletters may recognise ...

Re: Bordering on the ridiculous...

Firstly, let me disavow you of the smoke and mirrors that brexiteers use to obscure this issue. There is no Irish border, there is a British political border in Ireland. This border was imposed in 1921 and gerrymandered into its current shape in 1923, the objective being to maintain a British footh...

Re: Bordering on the ridiculous...

... Many of those members who have travelled will be aware that former French colonies that remained with France rather than go independent have political representation in the French Parliament and the countries come under French Law as if it was in France - even their border says you are now ente...

Re: Daily clicks - Skyscanner

I voiced no opinion about my satisfaction or otherwise. I am after all a realist and accept that all these offers like idiots come and go in the fulness of time. Couldn't agree more... and the sooner the better I think. Some people just can't put a foot right in some eyes; but what a shame members ...

Re: Best Wishes to Princess Eugenie and Jack on their Wedding Day

... £2m for security ... There is a big difference between marginal cost and full cost - if you think of running a car, it costs about 45p a mile if you take the full cost of purchase, financing, insurance, etc and spread it over your mileage. But each individual trip cost about 12p a mile in fuel ...
