Re: imutual pub meet- Sat 14th May

I think a major problem is the cost of transport. It'd cost more than someone's shareholding is worth (perhaps more than it'll ever be worth or even more than most people's earned cashback) to attend the meeting, which from a pure cost basis doesn't really make much economic sense. I suspect if you held it in London then at least members around the city with pre-existing or cheap access to a Travelcard might attend!

Re: Proposed change to "shares for posting"

I'd prefer the process of awarding shares for posts to be stopped altogether (preferably with already awarded ones cancelled). There does seem to be a lot of low quality posts in the forum and knowing that they're diluting my shareholding makes me less inclined to use imutual as a cashback site.

Re: Weekly digest - your feedback wanted!

Historically, we haven't sent many regular emails to our members and, while some may think this is a good thing, there is a danger that people just "forget" about imutual and aren't aware of recent developments, interesting forum posts and money-saving offers.

To be honest, the majority of people I've referred to cashback sites over the years have expressed dissatisfaction with being spammed by regular e-mails from those sites. You're probably right that they can "forget" about the sites they joined otherwise, but really new and merchant deals are largely irrelevant since people aren't actually likely to take up a cashback offer unless they co-incidentally happen to be in the market for the applicable goods/services and generally nothing of consequence happens in forums. I think many people these days only welcome receiving "important announcements" (things they genuinely need to know) in e-mails from sites they joined.

Re: quidco results to 31/7/2011

I expect you're right, Richard. I made no comment about the validity of their statement - but that's what they claim in their public response to discussion of the figures!

I've read that HUKD is now separate from Q, or at least much more separate than they once were, however I don't know exactly what situation exists between the two companies these days.

They're keen to point out though, that the results cover all the ventures of the parent company, not just profits from cashback.

Re: Signature policy?

richard@imutual wrote:Should we have restrictions on the length, content and/or font size of signatures?

There are some quite distracting signatures being used now (e.g. banners & one member has a large font link to Superpoints), so I'd vote yes!

Re: Signature policy?

Not having a website which links everything together, I've just given fellow imutualers a few ways of earning a few extra pounds! I suppose I could start a blog and list everything on one page. However, someone would need to teach me how to start a blog!

This is a website! Why not post here (as a topic instead of a signature)?

Re: Signature policy?

How about charging members an advertising fee of 1p per day for displaying signatures? Plus extra charges for links, multiple lines, large/bold fonts, or different colours... raise revenue for our business and clean up the forums all at the same time; eveyone's a winner!

Re: Post-of-the-month results - May 2012

Wow, thanks everyone for the votes -- and also for the 100 shares prize! Must try not to spend them all at once. Perhaps I'll give MoneySupermarket.com Group a call after the celebrations to see if they're interested in another really exciting acquisition! :D

Congratulations to badtothebone, pieman and kevinchess too!

Re: Blood Donation

Although they perform screening, donators can not/should not rely upon the blood transfusion service to inform them of any conditions detected, including HIV. It's no substitute for getting appropriate tests done through a sexual health clinic.

Re: 50p off Chocolate Philadelphia

These are selling out now - tubs best before 19.02.2013 still come with the coupon inside but others I saw today best before 28.02.2013 didn't have it.

50p off Chocolate Philadelphia

There's a 50p off coupon inside new pots of Chocolate Philadelphia. It's currently only 81p in Tesco and 82p in Sainsbury's so works out at just 31p-32p per pot once you have the coupon!

Re: Free 1 litre Welsh's Grape juice

Was on offer at Tesco for £2 so I got 59p off rest of shopping.

If you bought either the rose or white juice then don't forget to claim with Tesco Price Promise too as you could then get an additional 71p back for each one since they're half price £1.29 at Sainsbury's until tomorrow.

This worked for me yesterday, giving a total profit of £1.30 per coupon...!

1 x WELCH'S ROSE GRAPE JUICE 1 LITRE 2.00 2.28 1.29 N/A
1 x WELCH'S WHITE GRAPE JUICE 1 LITRE 2.00 2.28 1.29 N/A

Re: Tickbox

Just because they can, doesn't mean that they will, or that they'll be successful.

So equally it could be said that if everybody sticks together and votes no in all the Tickbox polls, then the company saves having to pay out £200 and 2000 shares on behalf of some random survey site that inevitably had a very high reversal rate since they tracked transactions that did not fulfill the payable action criteria.

I can understand why Richard's recommendation is option 3 - to award individual transactions on request. No appeals would be necessary. Also, there are lots of random survey sites that could similarly be unable to track transactions correctly, so it may well be wise to avoid setting a precedent with the reject all and award all options.

Re: New awards for Post-of-the-month

This year I do want to encourage everyone to make imutual a friendly, attractive and welcoming place for newcomers. Remember that new members could have the potential to be major advocates for our site but a carelessly-worded response to one of their first forum posts could put them off.

Good spelling is essential too!

Re: Gay marriage What's your thoughts?

Sigh! :(

If you were correct about marriage already being identical to civil partnership then surely there'd be even less point in anyone opposing the plans. I don't need to stand to gain anything from a change to know it's fundamentally right to support equality.

Re: Gay marriage What's your thoughts?

I'm not keen on the term 'Gay Marriage' but that's what they are all calling it

The media have used that term a lot, all sinking to tabloid levels on this issue. The consultation was for 'Equal Marriage' and the vote is for 'Same Sex Marriage'.

I'm puzzled, homosexuals already have a Civil Union why do they need a marriage?

Why does anyone need one?

Why should anyone have the right to be married? Why should you? Would you be upset if you could not legally marry?
