Like others, I cannot remember the last time I went into a bank, postal/Post Office deposits are fine. I also have a secondary account with Metro and they are fine too (good for me as they allow euro withdrawals abroad without penalty) - but apart from the hassle of going into one when I applied years ago, I have never set foot in a branch since.

Other benefits are more important to me than a "personal service" I don't use - and branches cost money. If you are city-based, you have options - but those of us out in the sticks are used to playing second fiddle.
Just because I'm paranoid, it doesn't mean they're not out to get me
