End of no purchase free coffee at Waitrose

They've been rolling out this new policy for many months now. It's already happened in all the branches that I visit; probably a lot more than just the 15 trial stores mentioned in that article.

It's priced £2.25 for a latte or a cappuccino but of course in practice most are given away free.

At my store in Exeter you have had to buy something for a year or so. There must have been a great increase in the sales of in-cafe bananas (25p). I'm all for having to make a purchase and i think it is in the interest and benefit of most Waitrose customers.

Excluded Items: single use carrier bags, tobacco, stamps, mobile top ups, e-Top up vouchers, lottery tickets, gift vouchers, cashback, infant milk formulae, car park charges, fuel and delivery charges.

My sister is a John Lewis Partner and she reckons the regular cutting of the bonus for partners is due to the cost of the pensions for Partners like her.

So no doubt she approves of the "buy before the free coffee" unless she is visiting of course :lol:

Yes not had the email yet so had not seen this bit, big rise in single grapes and 10p carriers then!

Without mentioning the name of the newspaper it was in, apparently someone managed to weigh in a mushroom at 1p. Although they were also suggesting you could buy a banana for as little as 8p.
