Another Memory Jog...

Post by Boro Boy » Sun May 28 2017 12:27pm

On Football Focus yesterday before the FA Cup Rudd Gullit commented that one of the things that fascinated him about English football as a child was watching English FA Cup Finals and (amazingly) "...little flags on the footballers socks with their team numbers on."

...and I thought Wow! I remember that; I recall the Leeds Utd. team of the 1970's and the "little flags on their socks..." I remember wearing them myself to keep my football socks up in my footballing days when I use to play rather than spectate...

What ever happened to them? they are nowhere to be seen on present day football kits!

What a great memory jog! memories poring back. Thank you Rudd.

On local radio this morning the presenter was reminiscing on the 1980s and asked if anyone remembered Torville and Dean's ice dance to Bolero. He obviously didn't as he then referred to their score of perfect 10s from every judge!

I remember it well
In those days the FACup final was one of the highlights of the sporting calendar and everyone watch it
I saw every final on the telly up until 1981 when I started working Saturdays
Different times

Yes it use to be a morning build up on the telly and all the way up to the big match on (always) at 3pm and if I recall you could decide to watch the ITV or BBC version... Those were the days!

The joys of channel hopping BBC or ITV,as a youngster it would be the one day of the year where I could sit in front of the box from the first programme to the end of the final
