To be honest - we don't have to rush anything through here. Let's ensure everyone has an opportunity to contribute their thoughts equally and fully, whether in the club or not.

It does make it more difficult to make "opportunistic trades", but I don't think that a club like this is very well suited for that style of investing.

I also feel that one of our consistent failings in the past is where we've been tempted into buying a share mainly because it's fallen in value and we've perceived it as being "cheap". i.e. we've plumped for "recovery plays".

And in trying to take advantage of short term price movements, we have perhaps not taken enough time to research our candidate stocks.

I'm hopeful that this new approach will result in better-informed decisions.

I personally think we should be looking for a min of 10-15% profit on our share portfolio, if it reaches that we then need to decide if to sell.

With regards to lose none of us want to loose money on shares but as they are a long term investment they go up and down.

We do need to retain some core shares that are performing and giving us a dividend.

I thought the idea of share dealing is to buy low and sell high. If you can't react to an opportunity because it's not "trading week", surely you'll miss out?
We need 2 things before any/every purchase
A vote, takes at least a week, and the money
As a club we wont hold onto money in the bank
There's an incessant need to buy 'Anything'
Its V frustrating :(

In regards to the voting maybe we can do a vote by proxy, for me personally there are times when I cannot respond for hours and I would have no problem having someone vote on my behalf if say for whatever reason I did not vote within 3 hours of a vote being set.

What about everyone else?

With my proposal that shouldn't be a problem. We'd have up to a week between the nominations being finalised and the voting closing, and you'd know when that week is going to be a long while in advance

So all members can set aside a decent amount of time to read through the comments and do their own research before casting a vote

I'm not really keen on the idea of proxy votes, esp as it would undermine the Top Tipster calcs

Persuading the members to sell 3 or 4 loss making shares
And
Stopping them buying something if a Stop/Loss kicks in between votes

The main reason I have never joined the club is the process of decision making takes so long . In the time waiting for a vote before buying or selling a share, the price of that share could have changed dramatically

If a share were to hit it;s Stop/loss between dates then that would solve the problem of what to sell
