An hour is best as it means businesses would always know what time it is in the EU part of Europe if we both stay on BST

But if the government doesn’t care why would they kill off a Private members bill?

The government would not kill it off as such. It would not be given the time needed to become law. Especially when Brexit is dominating so much of the legislative timetable.

At least one Tory MP sees it as his mission in life to make sure he kills off as many Private Members Bills as possible. MP's in the past have chosen this as their choice when they are high enough up the list to promote a PM bill. Every time it has been killed off, usually because of an incredibly long speech about the bill being debated before it. And so the House never gets the chance to vote on the final reading of the bill after it has been through the committee stages at times.

Not true, he would say that he is trying to ensure that each and every bill gets a full and proper debate. rather than being pushed through on the nod. His action delays it till it gets a full reading, I am not saying I agree with him but it does mean that hasty and ill thought through legislation gets a full and proper debate.

Bu tthe bill goes to a committee stage where it is picked over and usually changed for the better so not sure why any MP feels the need to kill a bill at any stage. If enough M's still feel it is a bad bill then it will be lost due to the votes against it.

An hour is best as it means businesses would always know what time it is in the EU part of Europe if we both stay on BST

So we both move to the Half Hour and take the middle of the road option...!?!

No, too confusing.
What about in space, or near black holes, where time moves at different speeds?
Would half an hour be sufficient, or would we need to change it every few years, like a leap year?

(Yes, I have just read A Brief History of Time :ugeek: )
