Normal for Great Yarmouth

Post by blythburgh » Thu Apr 21 2016 9:44am

Most people would find a different way to transport a wardrobe but not some of the good folk of Yarmouth.

They fix it to the roof of the car with bubble wrap.

I kid you not, and due to lack of room one passenger is lying underneath the removed doors.

Many many years ago we visited Great Yarmouth and enjoyed:
  • A charity shop selling a picture of what appeared to be a 1970's postcard of the Swiss Alps (complete with atomic blue sky) in a frame with cracked glass over which someone had apparently spilt a cup of tea...
  • A shop offering the obvious combination of white goods, juggling equipment and strippers. The sign helpfully added in brackets: "(wallpaper)"...
  • An amusement arcade where we flew virtual reality planes, not realising that our headphones and microphones were linked not just to each other, but to the PA in the arcade. Which would have been fine except for the rather ripe language used every time we crashed...
  • Elvis, in a pizza restaurant...
Ah, Yarmouth... the Vegas of the East.

Surely Las Vegas is not that bad, I am sure they do not have a chip stall or fish and chip shop in every road.

And I can believe what you said in your post as it was no better the last time we visited. Not been into the town for a few years but The Time and Tide museum is well worth a visit. And for Admiral Lord Nelson aficionados then there is an excellent museum devoted to him and the original Nelson's Column. The London one is a later copy of the original.

More impressive but not the original.
