I understand the above - but what is the amount that is 'enough' ? are we looking at £500 or more / less The reason I want to try and find an answer is so that if people are aware of the figure, we can try and do research when we get close to it (maybe within £100) as a cash balance - though I do ap...

Looking over this thread, it seems that by our very nature (and perhaps correctly) we are unable to make a decision on the 'next' purchase very quickly and so perhaps are unable to take advantage of 'fairly certain' imminent rises in the price of one particular in the short term. This being the case...

Of these in my opinion, I would see HSBC as a long term hold (not very exciting, never going to be bought out but regular high (ish) dividend), whereas the other two are more to make money in the medium term

ie - buy if the price falls below a certain level (50P?)
buy now
don't buy Lloyds
Don't buy anything at the moment
