But I am one of the 'Merry men'
I'm not sure you understand what a 'Tactical loss' is

Be He a brave soul who backs Richard and his merry CIC men with a cool thousand pounds GBP.

Tactical loss.

Me personally, I'm investing every penny that I am kindly awarded.

Even stripping out Carillion, you're sitting on a loss.

In comparison, the FTSE100 index is up about 5% over the last 12 months; the all-share index is up by a similar amount.

I just feel, before we go throwing more money down the drain, we should have a plan, including, but not limited to
Setting Stops
Deciding what we are going to do with Carillion.
Lets stop all this doubling up/down on share that why we are such a mess at the moment
Alos this belief that dividend shares are the be all and end all is clearly nonsense as we have consistently prove again and again
I wont be putting in any more money any time soon I'm afraid

Need to have a clear vision of what to buy and when/also how long you want to keep stuff for.

it might be a good idea to keep some stocks that give a good dividend despite their showing a healthy profit. Unfortunately the healthy profit would only be a gross profit. How healthy would the net profit be after buying and selling costs are taken into account?

When the club can afford large amounts of such stocks then selling on a high and hoping to buy at a lower price would make far more sense than buying and selling small stakeholdings.

Only my opinion and as I cannot afford to be a member it really does not matter what I think.

I don't think we should stop investing just because we have had some bad experiences. We need to learn from these and try not to make similar mistakes. For me I think there have been lots of learning points for us as a club - I am just heading off to work so won't go into any depth here but a flavour of these include obvious things like buying shares at the 'wrong price' (sounds simple but many we have bought were at or near the top of their max); being sucked in by 'special dividends' etc (there has usually been a reason for this i.e. to attract naive investors like us); picking too many volatile shares from outside the FTSE 100 and not having a sufficiently diverse portfolio; not crystalising profits/limiting losses (we could have cashed out ITV and NCC for example to limit losses and possibly bought again at a much lower price if we felt it was worthwhile or used the funds to purchase other shares. Also United Utilities we could have cashed in 15% profit but held on hoping for more but on no real intelligent information to justify why and low and behold it fell back to negative at one point before bouncing back to a much more limited profit); lack of proper use of 'stop-losses'.

That all sounds negative but it is not meant to be, just my observations. I think we should definitely start looking to invest as soon as we can afford to do so.

Can Richard please transfer funds from Co-op bank account to our Share Centre dealing account so we are ready to make a purchase as soon as Garindan is back with us.
