I like the new 'i', it's better and clearer, and looking like a person is good, regardless of the intention. Also making it more like the i you often see for 'info' is good too.

The old one defo needs sharpening.

Losing the .co.uk is also good, as you want to market the brand as is, not the site per se. If you make merchandise: car stickers, badges etc. yes it's missing the vital part of the address, but it's much more a logo than an address. you could put that in real small at the bottom of any print that requires it.

Also, encouraging people to google (or otherwise search!) the term and find the right site, will help it move up the ranks, so there is an indirect benefit. Owning other domain suffixes would be good though if possible, but there's plenty you can do to advertise the site address, including messing around with imutu.al/always and many other options.

Now to the prime question, i prefer logo (1) as it's simple and bold. No need to mess around with shading / texture, though you could use those as thematic variations from time to time, as google does, but the basics should be basic.

(4) is a close second, but as others have said seems too spindly and weak, it actually looks too tall, however it is clearer and seems brighter though that may be an illusion. would be interested in seeing it bolder.

Strapline (3) is the best as it's clearest, and that's important if you want people to absorb it, without having to actively read.

My tuppence for what it's worth. :)

I assume the i in the first one is intentionally made to look a little like a person, and it does arguably look the best. I'm not sure ay are great, though.

2 & 3 would look great if the entire site were designed with the sketchy/workspace look, but unless that's the case it'll look like someone thought of that idea but couldn't think up a 'rough' style website.

Are we attached to pink_blue? Monochrome can be made to look cool and pretty modern...

I prefer the first one - clean and modern.

I prefer the 4th one, but a signed photo of me underneath would really brighten it up

I think No 1 is best out of the various options and better than the current one. Also think the strapline example looks better than the current logo and strapline.

I also think it looks cleaner without the '.co.uk'.

1) Already stated my logo preference (no. 1) in a previous post.

2) I don't know what the proposed choices of strapline are but I think it should include "cashback" because that's the site's core business.

3) I don't think ".co.uk" is really needed in the logo; it's outdated and unnecessary (visitors can look at the address bar to see the address). In my opinion, only the fact that imutual doesn't appear to own the dot com address gives any validity to wanting to highlight the ".co.uk" but that raises the question of what the brand really is - whether it's imutual or imutual.co.uk; unfortunately it's kinda too late rethink whether or not launching the site without owning all the common domain variations is a good plan.

Not sure if it is the fact that the current logo wording looks squashed up thin, that is causing a problem for some reason.

If a change must be done then

Image

is the best, and better than the current one in fact.

If it is not broke don't fix it is applicable here.

Perhaps it is the first step to Global domination by imutual so the need to drop the .co.uk to allow .com and so on domains for Yanks and others.

Who knows, but I am interested in why the change is needed.

I've reduced the size of the examples at the beginning of this topic to be more representative of what they'd look like on the site, on banners etc

1) status quo

2) strapline 1

3) get rid of co.uk

I prefer the first or fourth ones, in that order. I hadn't really thought about it before, but in comparison they make the current font look a little "Wild West".

I think these two are more in keeping with the LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook styles, so would fit in with that genre of social networking websites.

I'd keep the .co.uk in similar small type. It helps to remind people of where to go. It also emphasises that it's a British site, (ie. the links here don't really work for other countries).
