Re: The BBC is to axe its Red Button teletext service

How many? The BBC news report doesn't mention numbers. According to ONS data, over 90% of the population are recent internet users. Do you think that there are many who are too tech-averse to get online but still tech-savvy enough to use the red button? Of all households in Great Britain, 93% had a...

Re: Citizen Khan pushes ahead with the plan to shoot himself in the foot

There are indeed plenty of anecdotes about empty properties, but let's try some facts. According to ONS data, there are 216,000 vacant dwellings in England out of 24.2 dwellings in total - so less than 1%. Is that a big number? I don't think so. Could it be smaller? Undoubtedly. Could it be a lot s...

Re: Citizen Khan pushes ahead with the plan to shoot himself in the foot

Constantine I have so much evidence:,,, You have no evidence at all that these houses are being left empty to deteriorate because the owners wish to later sell them at a, presumably greater, profit . That does not, on the whole, make any sense. That is your prejudice speaking. The amount of empty b...

Re: Citizen Khan pushes ahead with the plan to shoot himself in the foot

What would help renters is stopping people buying houses all over the country and leaving them empty to deteriorate and later sell them at a profit. Que? What evidence do you have that is happening? Why would anybody want to buy a property and leave it empty to deteriorate, when they could rent it ...

Still his empire will grow as he creates new jobs to administer his schemes - but where will they live? :wtf:
Good news. Mr Khan lacks the ability to introduce rent controls. He might like to, but he can't.

Re: Boycott's Knighthood

It is perhaps one of the greatest features of the honours system, that a previous criminal record has little bearing on the likelihood of receiving a Queen’s honour. Quite rightly, endless punishment is no longer a feature of our justice system or our society, and the meritocratic honours process i...

Of course Earth will survive. But will humans and much of the wildlife become like the dinosaurs? The way we are going the answer is "yes"
Well that would be the whole point.

It's not about protecting the Earth from us, it's about protecting ourselves from the Earth.

Hi

What apps do people use to monitor their spending. I know I flutter away too much money and want to monitor where it’s going. Is there a free app for IPhone people recommend?

Thank you
Does buying an IPhone qualify as fluttering away too much money? :)

Re: Last chance PPI Claims

.... Fail to do it by tomorrow and if you are owed PPI you will lose it. No one is 'owed' PPI as such. You submit a complaint that it was mis-sold. If you ever taken out a loan and were charged for a single premium PPI policy that's a mis-sale. If you have ever taken out a credit card and paid mont...
