Black Swan review

Post by kevinchess1 » Tue Jan 25 2011 4:08pm

A film about ballet starin Natalie Portman?
Not the sort of thing you expect
I’ve never forgiven her for the Star Wars travesty
And I can’t recall a film she’s in that I’ve like
Mema (RIP) always said to me
‘Julie,’ she said ‘keep away from that mucky girl lizzy and ‘Try everythin once except Morris dancing and Incest.’
She was right about Morris dancing
So, in reference to her, I’ve been to a couple of ballots and it’s not for me
Over made up under fed prizzy divas prancing about in their tights
And the girls are just as bad

2 paragraphs written and not a word about the film.

Natalie plays Nina, a ballerina, lives with mum, has a princess bedroom, filled with stuffed animals. She works hard, never complains, we know she a goody good because she wear white.
2 things happen At the V start of the film which set the story up
The company are gonna perform Swan lake’ and a new girl, lily, joins. She a free spirit and dresses in black.

Being a Culture, intellectual sophisticated bunch I know most of you are familiar with Swan Lake but for the benefit of xXxRaIcHxXx,
SL is about a beautiful girl, turn into a swan that can only be freed by her prince
He ends up chasin after the Black swan and she dies.

The V creepy director cast Nina in the lead role confident she can play the white swan
But not sure she can play the black swan
And, guess what she can’t
In frustration he tells her to ‘get in touch with her self!’
And he means that in a pervy way
So with a mixture of desperation and curiosity she goes out with Lily, who introduces to the ‘Dark side of the force’ (Sorry couldn’t resist)

But as she embraces her Black swan she slowly loses her mind.

It’s difficult to Pigeon hole this film
In some ways it’s art what with ballet and a musical score from Swan Lake
And Sex-is-art-not-porn.
It has a documentary feel to it what with the shaky badly frame shots of her just walk-in, passin her colleagues all painfully stic thin un made up and not attractive.
It’s a horror film as well
The pictures taunt her and, in one scene, she lookin into the room and her reflection turn and sneers at her bac
Made me jump

Mostly it a thriller Natalie give her best performance yet(Yes I’ve seen Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium) as Nina torn between wantin to dance but wantin to embrace the black swan
Vincent is perfect as the Creepy director, does he want to get the best from her or just get in her knickers
Barbra Hershey as the worried mum, Mila kunis as lily, is she her friend or not?
And Winona Rider as her predecessor who hints at dark deeds afoot as she loses the plot
The entire film draws you in and absorbs you
From about 20 minutes in you know how it’s gonna end but you hope you wrong
To me the tru test of a film is would I pay to see it again?
Yes I would
Best film I’ve seen this year
RECOMENDED
Politically incorrect since 69
