An old family favourite is being revived! I do hope that this remake is as good as the original: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/a ... sodes.html :D :D :D

I think you may be right but we should give it a try and hope that it clicks and it can be something to fall in love with = innocent comedy.

If you missed it, there was already a new film of Dad's Army in 2016:

The new TV series will be limited to remaking lost episodes; at least that's the initial goal.

An awful film I am grateful I waited to see it on free to air TV. How could so many top actors etc produce such rubbish that had little to do with the original story lines/characters?

The revival is using scripts of missing episodes, so like yourself I'm hoping the revival will be better than the film which was a little weak...!

I consider that remark a slur on the real life Dad's Army and even the screen version was better organised than Mr Rees Mogg and his friends

Remakes always run the risk of comparison with the original. Recently I've seen Papillon and A star is Born; IMO, the former was a decent film, but kept making me compare it to the original and not many actors could match the presence of Steve McQueen and Dustin Hoffman whereas the latter seemed to subsume any storyline under the performances of the stars and was so-so. with several minus points.

When it comes to comedy, the issues are far greater - the poor sets and dubious acting in the original would not be acceptable today, some topics would be avoided due to "sensitivities" and the tradition of comedic acting has all but disappeared, so any remake will be at an immediate disadvantage.
