Imutual FA Cup Competition 2022

Post by pieman » Fri Dec 31 2021 6:35am

I started doing an FA Cup competition many years ago, before my work got to busy and our dear departed friend Kev Chess very kindly took over.

I did wonder whether to leave it this year, but I know that a lot of people have enjoyed participating in the past so thought I would run it again this year.

Hopefully Richard will step in and offer some prizes to winners of each round and overall etc.

I won't be eligible for prizes.

I have made a couple of changes this year, which will hopefully make it easier for people who do not know a lot about football to take part.

I have put down all the fixtures and the fixture number (1 -32), you simply have to pick 3 DIFFERENT numbers (ie the fixture) and put down H (home) if you want the first team in the fixture, or A (away) if you want the second team in the fixture

eg

A) 1H

B) 3A

C) 17H

No Jokers at this stage

You also need to make a 4th DIFFERENT pick for the team you think will win overall - again just the fixture number and H or A

Categories are

A) A team that is going to win (3 points)

B) A team that is going to score most goals (1 point per goal scored - in 90 minutes)

C) A team that is going to let in the most goals (1 point for every let in - in 90 minutes)

D) The team you think is going to win overall (15 points if they win the cup, 10 points if they get to the final)

Any questions please ask

I take it that if my selection of overall winner (D) is knocked out earlier on in round 3 or 4 etc. I can select a replacement from those still in the competition? Is that in the rules? What happens to matches called off late due to Covid-19?

a) 2A
b) 17H
c) 6A
d) Manchester City

To answer swissman's questions

If your pick to win gets knocked out - You CAN NOT pick another team.

With this being the FA Cup - any matches called off will be rearranged at a later date (unless the FA decide otherwise)

In the event that the fixture can not take place, The FA will decide a winner of the match and people will only get points for that fixture, if it does not take place, if they have correctly picked the winner of the fixture.

Thanks pieman for the update.
So when the fourth round is announced, we then select new matches for A) B) and C) and our selection in D) whether still in the competition or already knocked out, gets carried forward :?:
