One of our members has had a claim rejected and has opted to appeal against our decision, as they are entitled to under our Appeals process. You are invited to read the details of the claim, the merchant's reasons for rejection and any subsequent responses to this topic and then, within 7 days, vote as to whether you think we should award the claim. Summary details of the claim history are as follows:

The member visited AXA Home insurance on 14 Mar 2012 using the correct imutual link and the details of the transaction were:

Type: Home insurance
Cashback: £32
Shares: 320

A policy number was provided

The transaction was untracked and a claim was submitted on 2 Apr 2012
The merchant rejected the transaction on 26 Apr 2012, meaning that imutual will not receive any commission for this transaction. Based on information provided by the merchant, we responded to the member as follows:
** 26 Apr **
The merchant has rejected your enquiry, due to the sale being attributed to another website or marketing channel. For further explanation, please see http://www.imutual.co.uk/help/14/1086/
The claimant is a long-established member with regular cashback earnings, and this is the first time they have had a transaction rejected.

The member concerned may choose to respond to this thread to provide information in support of their claim. Equally, we respect their right to anonymity and they may choose either not to respond or they can ask a staff member to post their response anonymously on their behalf.

Please discuss the merits of this claim and then cast your vote using the poll options provided

Richard, perhaps to save the question being asked each time, you could tell us the merchant's track record in the initial post?

Is the insurance still in place?
Or was it cancelled soon afterwards?

I took up this offer last year successfully.

I'm aware that specific advise on how to ensure that such offers should be taken up is given by Imutual. It is linked from the offer page,

Namely

http://www.imutual.co.uk/help/4/1481/

Did the claimant follow that advice ?

Thank you zulu17 very helpful. If the member has visited a comparison site then surely no claim should be accepted as per the topic you have highlighted

"We strongly advise against using comparison sites if you want to earn cashback, and cannot accept any claims if you do so. But if you have already used a comparison site and now you want to earn cashback for insurance, we would advise that you take the following steps"

Good point.

In this case, they seemed reliable until late 2011. Since then, nothing has tracked and we've had two recent claims (including this one). Both have been rejected with the same reason

So a separate question is: "do we drop AXA from the site?"

Yes, drop them from a great height immediately.

No it wasn't. I always play fair.

I did what I have always done for many years.

As you might gather, this is my claim.

Once my original claim was rejected I never expected to be paid. I have always known the rules and have accepted them. I've viewed any cashback received as a welcome bonus to being a member of a mutually-supportive community. Any cash payment has been secondary to the many other valuable merits of the site. I don't see how it is possible to be paid money that the site has never received.

However, following the successful appeal of Mr/Ms 68664 in similar circumstances I decided that there should be one rule for everybody.

It may be of course that Mr/Ms 68664 is a special case highly worthy of special treatment. However, as I don't know who they are I can't really judge.
