You are quite right, Kev

As I did in an earlier competition, I've treated the tcb thread differently because threads like that do tend to attract a large volume of "thanks", even when they consist of a single word - which is not really what this comp should be about. So I give a special award to the thread starter but otherwise exclude it from the main awards

If a majority think they should be treated the same as other posts, then I'll reconsider.

From this post back in Feb 2014

From now onwards, I will promote such posts (provided they've received a fair number of thanks) to a 'special' status and award 100 shares. But they'll then be excluded from potm awards - because I think the spirit of potm should be to recognise and encourage ad hoc contributions on a variety of subjects, and it would also be good to see the prizes shared out amongst more members, especially newbies. I hope you can see my reasoning; the 'competition posts are a great asset to the site and I want to see them properly recognised, whilst also ensuring that potm serves its original purpose of promoting valuable and original contributions

I just checked my account, one eye on the footie and one eye on the computer some of the time and found I won. And the wife got 3rd place. Pity we do not have any children then we could really have kept this in the family
