Once again the pro remain parties show a huge percentage rise in their votes and in a Leave voting area too. And unlike most by-elections you cannot blame low voter turnout. The biggest by-election turnout since 1947

Voters are not necessarily voting for candidates based on whether they are for or against Brexit . This was a bye election and maybe local issues were more important for some, and especially as Mr Davies ( Conservative ) stood again after being unseated by a petition following his conviction for a false expenses claim.

The collapse in the Labour Vote shows many people were voting for a Remain party. Those interviewed who normally vote Labour said that is why they voted tactically.

There was an informative report on Newsnight last night, highlighting how the USA is looking to vastly increase the prices of drugs sold to the NHS as part of any trade deal that the UK might seek to negotiate with them; a policy advocated by Donald Trump. The estimated extra cost for the NHS could reach £428 million per week.

I am listening and keep signing email appeals. It will also mean that our high welfare animal care on farms and environmental practices will have to go if our farmers are to survive. But what does that matter when we can get cheap meat from the USA. You know chickens raised in appallingly cruel and dirty conditions so they have to be washed in chlorine before they can be sold. Cattle given growth hormones (and are we really sure they are safe?). As a percentage of the population the USA has 10 people suffering from food poisoning when we only have one. Not sure for the percentage figures but it could mean for every person currently getting food poisoning here in the future it will be another 9. And remember food poisoning can kill a frail or sick person

I don't know why everyone's so worried about us being forced to accept lower US standards. Boris has shown that he will stick to a principle no matter what the cost. I would expect him to just draw a red line when negotiating with America and force them to accede to our demands first. If that doesn't work and we don't get a trade deal with the US that suits us, we can always eat the unicorns.
