When there was a chance to move things forward, instead the EU takes areas of Europe back to feudal times: https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/world/th ... spartanntp

‘HAPPY BREXIT DAY EVERYONE

Oh wait
I was only invited to a Halloween party.

Anyone get any invites to Brexit and Anti-Brexit parties?
I did wonder if some of the fireworks were actually Mark Francois exploding.

I hate to use the word 'twist' unnecessarily, so let's just say your headline is misleading.

It's not the EU doing this. It's the governments of some Eastern European countries continuing to operate much as they did under communist rule. Those national government are using their sovereignty, independence and autonomy in the EU to divert funds to where they want them.

It is not in the spirit of the EU's farm subsidy programme, and is able to happen because the EU is not controlling it closely.

Presumably, as you believe this is the EU's responsibility, you are arguing for the EU to interfere more in a country's national economy and overrule their parliament and government?

Doesn't European law take precedence over national laws. So if member states are abusing the system then the EU should change the system.
This is also happening in the UK where the farmers are not the landowners.

Really? Are we still seeing this misleading oversimplification after so many years? Clearly the years of UK-press and UKIP brainwashing weren't wasted.....

European law takes precedence over national law ONLY in matters relating to EU treaties, etc. and where EU law conflicts with national law.https://fullfact.org/europe/eu-law-and-uk/

As Chadwick has suggested, it appears that for some people the EU is damned if it does and damned if it doesn't - either they are to blame for making one of the states do something, or they are to blame for not stopping them.....

Agreed, but by financing this arrangement the EU is helping support it...!

So, by the same measure, the UK Government is responsible for uncontrolled immigration by not implementing the legal measures other EU states have used to prevent it.

Equally, you must also accept that the UK is responsible for killing Yemenis, by supplying arms to the Saudis for its own gain.

None the less the EU is financially supporting the return to feudalism in the areas highlighted above in the thread and repeated here: https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/world/th ... spartanntp

Repeating the link doesn't strengthen it - your claim of EU responsibility is as invalid as to claim that the UK government encourages crime because there is welfare fraud - or that Oxfam is a fraud because someone steals the donations. It is a false assertion.

The responsibility for the way EU funds are distributed within a state lies with that state's government and the people who vote them into power. What is described is not a pleasant outcome, but there is nothing the EU can do directly to fight such internal corruption....... and if they did do anything, I'm sure you'd be the first to complain about them interfering in internal politics.

But then, why let the facts get in the way of a smear?

It is as much a smear as your cheap retaliation in support of the EU turning a blind eye...!
