Labour ( and the Greens and Lib Dems) are "considering" a Land Value Tax which could cost property owners £8 per sq m of land per annum where I live. This means if your house is on a plot of land measuring 10m x 20m you could be charged £1,600 per annum. - Based on 3% of the value of their land ( including what their house stands on ) per annum - value of residential land in Stockport in 2017 was £2,655,000 per hectare ( 10,000 sq m ).

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/20 ... nt-budgets https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/3680000/l ... value-tax/ https://www.labourland.org/ https://www.independent.co.uk/news/busi ... 39186.html https://www.taxpayersalliance.com/the_c ... garden_tax
This to replace other taxes, as far as I heard - such as council tax and business rates - and aimed at forcing developers sitting on building plots for profit to release them for building. It's always necessary to have both sides of the equation......

I'm happy to pay my way but that is extortionate.

I was going to vote this afternoon after we got back but it was raining hard so waited. In the end went about 5. The Scout HQ is a few doors down. It is a building which is not easy to get into even with the ramps they now use at election time. At the side of it is a grassed area and there is a very high hedge around both sides (it is on a corner). So I had to struggle round to the side of the building on not the most even of paths with hardly any light. As I came out a lady was trying to get a gentleman out of a car and he obviously needed a walking frame so can only hope they made it in and out safely. A bit of a death trap IMHO

I couldn't believe the bloke at the polling station, explaining to me, very slowly, how to vote
Made me a little cross
