I think there are so many times when it was the worst time ever to be alive. e.g. Black Death, CIvil Wars (War of the Roses and the Royalist/Roundheads one that a large percentage of the population were killed in), WW1 and WW2, threat of nuclear war in my life time(I know a couple who chose not to have children as they expected a nuclear war). To name but a few worst time ever to be alive
