Arlene Foster has resigned as DUP leader and Northern Ireland first minister after three-quarters of her party’s Assembly members and half of its MPs signed a letter of no confidence in her.
She said
“she would step down as DUP leader on 28 May and as first minister at the end of June”,
reports the BBC.
Foster told Sky News that serving the people of Northern Ireland had been
“the privilege of my life”
and added:
“The future of unionism and Northern Ireland will not be found in division. It will only be found in sharing this place we are privileged to call home.”

He needs to furnish us all with the truth.
Cummings has really pulled the rug out this time.

“I can only imagine the feelings of the Royal Family and I hope very much that the BBC will be taking every possible step to make sure nothing like this ever happens again.”
Boris Johnson weighs in after the BBC apologises for using deception to secure its Panorama interview with Diana, Princess of Wales, in 1995
Of course it will happen again. Maybe not in quite the same way but that is the nature of people and life.

I think she's actually deleted her Twitter account now.

“That’s what the people of our countries now want us to focus on. Building back greener, building back fairer, building back more equal, in a more gender-neutral and a more feminine way.”
Boris Johnson addresses his fellow G7 leaders while chairing the first working session of the summit.
