I have just been listening to Matt Hancock spouting on breakfast television about just this scenario and how Boris should continue until a new PM is appointed. What a load of b*****ks. As the presenter said it is worrying that Dominic Raab the Deputy Prime Minister has remained silent in all of this .A priority for any new government should be to write a constitution.

51 resignations 1 sacking and counting.

Johnson claims to have a personal mandate from the electorate, but he's not a president, so that's untrue. It's now like he's indulging in real-life role-play of a game from toff school.

Johnson said some stuff today, but hasn't been flushed yet.

Andrea Jenkyns shouted “He who laughs last, laughs the loudest. Wait and see!” at the crowds gathering outside Downing Street. What will we see, Andrea?

World responds to Johnson exit

The Kremlin has reacted with pleasure over Boris Johnson’s woes. President Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov said he hoped “more professional people” who could “make decisions through dialogue” would take over in London. Guy Verhofstadt, the European parliament’s former Brexit coordinator, said Johnson’s reign was ending in “disgrace, just like his friend Donald Trump”. Meanwhile, noted the BBC, US president Joe Biden praised the “special relationship” between the US and UK, avoiding any reference to Boris Johnson himself.

Steve Baker just casually described the possibility of winning the leadership election as seizing power!

Yes, I heard that interview. I did raise an eyebrow when I heard it. But I guess in a way that's what it is about. These people are eager for power, They are not interested in helping the likes of the average imutual member.

I am aware that the debate on this topic within these pages is very one sided. I wonder whether it really does represent the view of the average member. Or whether those on the right just can't be bothered. It is a shame that they do not speak out very often, otherwise it seems to show that they are unable to defend the indefensible.

We do appear to have lost several of the most unapologetically far-right members of this forum in recent years, or they're keeping very quiet. I'm not going to lie, I don't miss hearing from them.

I tend to agree, but miss them or not, they do I feel have a right to a voice. I was just prompted to say it by the outrageous statement of Steve Baker,
