The performance of our investments during the week ending 6th January was as follows:


Essentra fell 2.1p to £4.59, a loss of 0.5%
Originally bought 122 at £4.91 on 4 Nov 2016

GlaxoSmithKline rose 21.5p to £15.84, a gain of 1.4%
Originally bought 38 at £15.53 on 4 Nov 2016

Greene King rose 21.5p to £7.20, a gain of 3.1%
Originally bought 80 at £7.88 on 30 Jun 2016

ITV fell 0.9p to £2.06, a loss of 0.4%
Originally bought 246 at £2.52 on 28 Aug 2015

United Utilities fell 4p to £8.97, a loss of 0.4%
Originally bought 60 at £9.56 on 26 Feb 2015
Then bought a further 66 at £8.96 on 16 Nov 2016

Share plc stayed unchanged at 27.5p
Originally bought 500 at 40.7p on 8 Oct 2014

The FTSE 100 index rose 68 points to 7211 points, a gain of 0.9%


The total value of our investments rose £15.55 to £3510.44, a gain of 0.4%

Carillion fell 0.93p to £2.38, a loss of 0.4%

Essentra fell 5.3p to £4.54, a loss of 1.2%
Originally bought 122 at £4.91 on 4 Nov 2016

GlaxoSmithKline rose 2p to £15.86, a gain of 0.1%
Originally bought 38 at £15.53 on 4 Nov 2016

Greene King fell 4p to £7.16, a loss of 0.6%
Originally bought 80 at £7.88 on 30 Jun 2016

ITV rose 3.1p to £2.09, a gain of 1.5%
Originally bought 246 at £2.52 on 28 Aug 2015

NCC Group fell 9.5p to £1.96, a loss of 4.6%

We also have to consider that when we buy we automatically lose 1.5% of the value due to costs involved with buying, plus will lose another 1% when we sell. Therefore we should expect it to be at least a while before newly purchased shares "perform".

We also have to consider the effects the PM's speech has had on the markets - we own a mix of different shares now from the FTSE100, FTSE250 and FTSE350 - and they all react in their own ways.

As I have mentioned on previous occasions, an advantage to the imutual Cashback Investment Club of a new fund with non-cashback money is that we will deal more frequently, to the point where the dealing costs will be reduced making the current cashback fund dealing fees more competitive.
