Why are you lot in the club? garindan makes some excellent points that need to be discussed by you all but all I see is nowt
And that is the problem. And why more people do not join. And why money is being lost and not made. And why there is stagnation. And it goes on and on. Still if the members are willing to continue to lose money? It is theirs after all.
Lose money you say - I'm in first.

AS I said earlier - I would also be generally supportive of garindan's suggestions

So 3 out of 14 think it is worth exploring something along the lines I mentioned, with 11 out of 14 not having said anything yet.
It would be helpful to understand what at least a few more of the other members think and if there are any suggestions for anything else we need to consider etc....

I'd be happy to see anything that made proceedings more directed and formalised because the drag of waiting for people to come up with ideas - which are then met with luke warm responses or no response (worse!) - is wearing.

So yes, more structure, whatever form it takes.

As always I'm pleased to confirm that as requested I shall do.

So now what we need is any further feedback on the idea I floated earlier so I can try and put more flesh on the bones so we can then have a much better discussion with an aim of voting on the most appropriate version.

Please do put in your views.

Just to clarify, we agreed on a year-long trial of a new process in March / April last year.

Personally I'd be happy to bring the end forward so we can discuss all aspects of our current process, but I want to check that's what you're thinking?

Yes, this is exactly what I am thinking.

We have exited sufficient long-term shares now to provide a significant pot to work with on a new way of functioning. I'll flesh some more specific ideas out, concerning both the long-term shares we still hold and the riskier shares just as soon as a few more members give their thoughts but certainly not until early next week.

Ok well my own proposal would be to adopt something along the lines of the process I have advocated before - see here

The club just isn't achieving the objectives I need to justify the time involved. Members are leaving rather than joining, and I am convinced that a simpler and more structured decision process is needed

As part of this, we must abandon this concept of "long term shares". It is preventing us from having funds to play with, hence why club activity is so low.

Thoughts?

As an ex-member I'd broadly agree with your original idea
If further proof were needed
The club has about £2,000ish in cash
And yet there are no suggestion on the table as to what to buy
