Looks like we should have invested in ITV. Nearly 30% rise on that one!

The important thing is that we try to learn from our mistakes. The other 3 investments we made recently are looking fairly solid; unfortunately the losses on this one currently outweigh all 3 of them put together :(

Nothing wrong with using newspaper tips as a starting point BUT I do feel we should enforce a longer delay between a share being nominated and voting being closed. This time it was less than 24 hours and I didn't vote because I wanted more time to look into it. Surprised that a majority of our members felt well-informed enough to vote so quickly :?

This was the reason why I was originally using tips from a few months back, so outcomes would have settled after the tip but numerous members said we needed current tips, so I switched to using ones, for the last two polls, from the day before (Sunday). This means the tip is still "hot" and any outcome of volatility from people rushing to buy having read the details of the tip has not settled and the price could go up a bit in that period. However, the risk is of course that it can come down a bit like we have seen on PGM. Then again the tip could have seen a big rise, so that's the gamble.

I would also say that miner shares seem to be one of the most volatile on the exchange, so perhaps we shouldn't be that surprised to see what has happened, if you think back to a couple of other miners we have eyed in the past.
