I agree, we tried that previously and it did not work very well. I can see why this might seem attractive and potentially adventageous but I would need to be convinced with firm assurances that members would receive decent quality/well researched/well presented propositions before entertaining the idea of a return to this approach.

Agreed. I think the club is running better than ever. And we're starting to see some of those benefits too.
