Just ranting
By the by
The players nor the ref asks for VAR
The Video folk inform the ref if they want him to review something
Not the other way round

The irony about England win
is that it the first penalty shoot out win at a WC
and we're manged by the man who missed one
Redemption maybe?

So I keep banging on and banging on and banging on and banging on about how predictable the WC is
So I thought I'd share my thoughts on the Quarters

URuguay V FRance
Uruguay were my tip for best non european which I posated
France got better against the Argies but conceded 3 goals
Uruguay to qualify

BRazil V BElgium
Easy one for me. Brazil have looked poor in every game and are living on past glories
They say Belgium is talented individuals who can't play as a team Probably most of their 2nd eleven would walk into any team left in They came back well against Japan
Belgium win comfortably in 90 minutes

SWeden V ENgland
All this hype about England's 'Easy' route to the final is a bit presumptuous
I'm sure Sweden fans are thinking the same
England to win

RUssia V CRoatia
Russia were the lowest ranked team left in at the KO stage and are still there
Should be a comfortable win for Croatia but the 'European team gets to the semi' rule nags at me
Croatia in 90 but Russia if not

One prediction came from my Cornish half and the other form my Ango Saxon half

Poor man, so many goals and good games for his teams and his country but remembered for the penalty he missed.

But at least he can put his arm round the British player who missed and point out it is not the end just the beginning of the rest of a good career because you are a very good footballer or you would not have been on the pitch.

Conversely he may have said: "You had better get that goal next time or your out!"

Nothing like the motivation of loss rather than sympathy to get players to work harder...
