Rugby Six Nations 2022 - Final score card

Image

France walk away with the championship, but Ireland actually outpoint them in terms of points scored and points lost, so a big pointer for the future.

No team can afford to lose a game on the day, regardless of the margin.

According to MSN (where I get my rubbish knowledge from though often only from a glance at the headline and not a click through) many people where upset about the Rugby being on ITV. Poor diddums had to wait a whole fortnight for the next episodes of Ant and Dec/Dancing on Ice. How do these poor people survive between series?

I wonder, do they also complain when soccer or tennis disrupts their viewing? Maybe so, but personally I would be happy to watch the Rugby on another BBC channel or on any of the other ITV channels..... presumably ITV thought it woould get more viewers than the dross they otherwise show. These days, I am hard pressed to find things on TV worth watching.... though I must say the latest (and last) series of Peaky Blinders is better than the last one.

I'm also sure the commetary would be different had England won at least the game, if not the championship. It's something I have noticed online.... Ireland fans are fans whatever, Wales fans still support their team despite a poor showing, I'm sure Scotland fans are similar ..... but England "fans" seemingly only support the team (sometimes fanatically) when they win and slag them off when they don't. Fleetwood Mac wrote "Players only love you when they're playin'" and the tune came into my mind almost as soon as the full-time whistle blew on Saturday, except with a slight variation to the words "Pundits only love you when you're winnin'".

People whinge every time a favourite programme is moved or delayed.

But really annoys me is the football match etc that ends at 9 for example and then a programme I really want to see follows. But the game goes to extra time. If it is a 30 min programme I wanted to see or a 60min I miss it. The game needs to continue to be shown on TV but why the heck do they have to then comment on the game for another 30mins????

Just to rub in the seniors result, Ireland U20s got the lot! They came top of the table, winning 5 games from 5 and beating second-place France by 7 clear points on the table. England came third, Italy fourth(!), Wales 5th and Scotland last.

So happy it was Ireland and not France at the top of the table. And proof positive how far Italy has come

On BBC R4 this afternoon they were discussing colour-blindness and particularly daltonism, the most common Red/Green form, which affects 1/12 men but only 1/200 women. They explained that this was because it is X-chromosome related, so any defect with men meant colour blindness, whereas women had double the chance of a positive discrimination.... and more, because the brain would actively seek the "correct" one.

One of the reporters then commented that there had been many complaints during the recent Rugby 6-Nations from people (mostly men, go figure!) who could not tell the difference between the two sides when Ireland (Green) played Wales (Red). They then viewed the picture in monochrome and the shirts did seem identical, but the presenter said there was an easy way to tell which team was which........the Irish were the ones with the ball!!

Sorry to the pobl cymru out there.... but I did have to smile!!!
