ALERT: Whirlpool Spin Dryer Issues... or is it!?!

Misleading Government announcement about the dangers of using a Whirlpool spin dryer; or is it? Whirlpool is the head of a group of companies which each brand their own appliances; so in this situation it is the member companies of the group (Hotpoint, Indesit, Creda, Swan and Proline brands) have the problem machines whereas Whilpool's own branded machines are ok.

The Government announcement didn't make the above very clear; so if you have a tumble dryer from these brands: Hotpoint, Indesit, Creda, Swan and Proline, you should unplug and stop using them until you have spoken to Whirlpool experts on the following phone number: 0800 151 0905

I had my old Hotpoint Tumble Dryer replaced with a new one in Feb 16 , but I have read somewhere that even the replacements have caught fire

Just to be safe perhaps you should give Whirlpool a phone call on their emergency help line detailed above and below...!?!

A grade 2 listed house near Saxmundham was burnt to the ground because of one of these machines but that was long after the issue was first reported.

Thankfully nobody hurt but why has it taken to so long for these dangerous appliances to be sorted?

A correction to the OP - the products affected are tumble dryers. Spin dryers are much less common and as far as I know have no particular fire risk.

There is a useful guide on the Which? website to your rights and listing the known models affected.
