You do have a point about social media. It's definitely the key to expanding the imutual userbase.

Further to my updates here, work has now started on rewriting the main imutual site, and improved social media integration is one of the objectives

Of course, this will take a while (months rather than weeks) and we could do tactical things in the meantime. However, we did make extensive use of twitter in imutual's early years and the stats showed that this added literally nothing to the bottom line :( So clearly the lesson learned is that a more sophisticated approach to social media is required

What's also clear from the past is that our "product" isn't right; that is, the site is very poor at converting visitors to active users and we need to address that first before committing precious resources to social media campaigns or trying to form promotional partnerships. Fix the hole in the bucket rather than just trying to pour in more water

That said, by far the most effective form of social media promotion is for individual members to tell their 'networks' about imutual and why they use it. And there's nothing to stop you doing that right now ;)

I disagree with the premise that the site infrastructure needs to be fixed before trying to grow the active membership.

The sign up rate is pitiful - less than 150 in total over the last 6 months. How many of those are still active? How many of the total membership are still active? My guess (in the absence of any data) is that of the 10,058 members, less than 1,000 are active (meaning earned cashback in the last 6 months) and few of those earned from anything other than dailies and other no-purchase offers. I would also guess that both numbers are declining.

The current website certainly needs work. But if membership and activity doesn't grow, any improvements will be futile.

So if anyone is a member of a "group" on facebook and that group allows advertising , why not post in that group a small advert about Imutual ( you may or may not want to include your referral link )
Maybe Richard could award a few shares to the member who comes up with the best advert that could easily be copied and pasted

Do you need an ad? Just talk about imutual and how you are doing.

You mean say that IM is another cashback site like Q and TCB but the rates aren't usually as good and there are no 'upgrade' redemptions. There used to be lots of dailies but not any more.
