LV and RL would be quite a beast.. both have acquired other mutuals that i was a member of in recent years. i'm not surprised that they are on the acquisition trail, but didn't see any suggestion of a merger between the two coming.

When LV cites all the new regulations as being too much then how do some of the very small FS still manage?.

Here I look at Red Rose Assurance which is tiny compared to LV.

here? were you meaning to include a link pp? and are you a member of Red Rose?

and i agree. being involved with friendly societies i hear a lot of the regulatory burden, but the impression would generally be that LVic and RLon are large enough to absorb the challenges.

Planteria. I have been a member of Red Rose since 2000 but pleased to see that their website is now quite modern.

Both Royal London and LV are big and of course I am still a member of both.

yes, i looked at their website before posting the above. i'm not sure what kind of bonuses they pay pp..
i'm not a member of RRA and never have been.
i have an ISA with RLon and a Bond and Pension (following takeover of Teachers) with LVic.

LV are to hold a SGM on 22nd May. They want to convert from a Friendly Society to a Ltd Company
LV, one of the UK’s biggest mutual insurers, has decided to ditch its 123-year-old friendly society status in a move that could pave the way to an eventual sale or merger of the group.

A friendly society since 1896, the insurer originally known as Liverpool Victoria said on Thursday it would ask members to vote on changing its status to a mutual company.
