i've never deposited cash into a bank account via the Post Office.. if we do, how long does it take for the cash to appear? i can't see it referred to on the website.

Took one day to show up in our Santander account. Our local PO only took Santander through the terminal and all others had to go with an envelope and paying in slip.

Cash is always processed through the Terminal, for security reasons. Co-op cash appears straight away. Only cheques etc are sent by envelope.

Our P.O. didn't have the updated system yet so that's why they could only use Santander through terminal, others had to go with a paying in slip in was advised.

That may be true, but some people already do not have the choice.

Many villages only have a post office that visit for a few hours a week.

Many towns have no bank and only a van that visits on certain days for a few hours. And the one I used had no facilities for the disabled. No idea how people cope in the rain as I have seen queues at the vans when I have parked my car.

And not everyone in a village or smaller town has a car and buses can be few and far between
