With all of these store closures something needs to change to revive the fortune of once mighty high street.

Not entirely new news but flesh has been put on the bones. Now we just need the clothes i.e. which shops will actually close. I do hope my nearest one does not close. I do not use but the next chemist is not within walking distance.

So if you don't use your local Boots, why do you care if closes? If you do care that it stays open, why don't you use it?

I do not use it because parking in the area is limited and so we use a pharmacy that we can park at easily and is almost always an independent one. But I care because there a lot of people in the area who do not have cars and that can make life very difficult for them. Or those with cars will have to make a specific journey to the next nearest pharmacy.

Not for the first time, ours closed some years ago. But not bad news for me, I go for Hotel Chocolate, a box every two months is our treat. Plus an extra one for birthdays.

William Hill to close up to 700 stores (about one third of their total) as a result of the cut in permitted stake on fixed odds betting terminals.

And like the banks they would much rather push us all online. I feel for those who will lose their jobs but at least the crack cocaine of gambling in store has been dealt a hefty blow. And the many innocent victims of the terminals will be spared in the future.
