M&S is certainly a blow to high streets... it has been a reason to visit various towns for some people, and other businesses and communities will miss out when they are disappearing. my home town is an example.

With luck they will open a food only shop to replace the one they close as many people use them for food on an occasional or regular basis. But only works if the new shop is in the town. Great Yarmouth had a M and S that closed some years back but the new food only shop is in a retail park. And that park is on one side of the town with everything else on the other side of the road. So people come to the shop and many never get across the road to the town. Or the cross the road so they can get to Tesco/Lidl and then drive in the opposite direction to the shopping centre. Not been to Yarmouth for so many years I have no idea what has become of the M and S or BHS shops but I do know (from the regional paper) that after many years the very large area vacated by the Co-op eventually became a group of shops. But that had a long frontage the other shops did not

Some of them perhaps! His Newcastle United players seem to be being paid well but of course still not entirely happy... I think HMV workers may welcome Ashley's involvement as opposed to the alternative of handing over to administrators to wind down the company?

Forget the footballers money and read Kevin Keegan's version of his time as a manager there.
