Not necessarily. I can remember the Video Format War. V2000 had the 'finest tech', followed by Betamax, with VHS in last place. VHS won.

Or take the humble PC; a bit of cobbled together tech from a variety of sources, including a version of DOS from some tiny company called Microsoft. But the IBM name shifted enough boxes to rule the world.

Sometimes tech just needs to be good enough and cheap to win.

I'd go further and say finance and marketing wins over all...! You can have the best item in the world but if no-one knows about it...opposed to having an ok item and a great well financed marketing campaign! :think:
