Last chance PPI Claims

i am almost certain that i've never paid for PPI.
i have had lots of credit cards, but i've never knowingly paid for protection of my balance..
i had an interest only mortgage, but i don't think i had protection for that either..
but a chap i know has allowed a search to be done on his behalf, believing he'd had no PPI, and they've come up with the fact that he did..
so it worth a late check? and if so, what's the best method?

1. Worth a punt.
2. Don't pay anyone else to do it.
3. Go to MSE PPI Reclaim Guide direct (link below). Don't Google as paid companies ads appear above MSE.
4. Do it TODAY.

despite recognising the importance of AT's advice, i finished up doing a long day at work on friday, and then on saturday i came down ill... just trying to get straight and on to this now, and not really with it...

the Resolver tool seems a good option, but the form seems to be based around knowing that you Have Had PPI with the credit provider. whereas all i'm looking to do is check with all providers whether i have had it or not.... i don't think i ever have, but i've had up to 24 credit cards at a time, and several mortgages over the years.

Check your credit report (Free online). It will show all providers you have used in the last six years. You will need to ask each provider if you had PPI on the product you had with them. Most providers will accept that enquiry as the start of the claim and providing you do that by tomorrow. Then you are on the way. Fail to do it by tomorrow and if you are owed PPI you will lose it.

Even on MSE forum posters advise against Resolver. Apparently it loses complaints. Given the timeframe, check the FCA website for details of how to submit complaints direct.

No one is 'owed' PPI as such. You submit a complaint that it was mis-sold.

If you ever taken out a loan and were charged for a single premium PPI policy that's a mis-sale.

If you have ever taken out a credit card and paid monthly PPI premiums, there's a good chance it was a mis-sale, depending on the sales process and whether the lender wants to put up a fight.

If you have ever taken out a mortgage together with a monthly premium PPI policy, it's very unlikely it was a mis-sale. Mortgage PPI is still sold today, and is generally regarded as a 'good thing'.
