We all want cheaper and cheaper this, that and the other. But that can be at the cost of people's jobs.
(Ovo Energy) It had intended to reduce staff as it automates customer service, but says that process is being brought forward.
So that Ovo Energy customers can save a few pennies other people lose most of their pounds.
Nothing is ever all good is it?

If a business fails to be competitive then the competition will put them out of business. Simples.

Travis Perkins are an essential part of the DIY trade. Travis Perkins stock many niche items that B&Q etc do not. My nearest Travis Perkins was an hour drive and I used to enjoy just having a browse and then buying online. If they close this store then I won't be driving any further just to go to a Travis Perkins. It's not like it's Disney World Florida.

How much does the trade rely on it? Will builders etc find they are paying more because there are less places to buy from? As is pointed out above many niche items that you do not find in the main DIY chains but essential to the professionals

Travis Perkins own Toolstation and Wickes, as well as a number of other businesses for the building trade.
I'm more concerned by their pessimistic outlook on construction given the long-standing need for more housing.

I heard that just over 50% of their rental income went on paying the interest on their debt. They grew too big far too fast and now the employees are paying the price
