Those were the days.
they were indeed.. good to see you here Richest.

it will be interesting to see how this plays out. if a deal with Bain goes ahead then the effect on the mutual sector is limited.. the 'mutual champion' wouldn't have been significantly larger via a RL-LV merger as RL is much larger than LV in terms of assets under management. i remain a member of both, along with NFUM and Wesleyan.

Thanks Richard.

Any early thoughts on the value and method of the distribution?

So what could the potential payout be and the structure of the payout?

Lump sum for loss of membership and more related to the size of ones investment?

This article says 250,000 WP members. Elsewhere reported as 1.1 million members.

The received a billion for their general insurance business, and yet they appear to be selling themselves short for only £500 million.

These numbers are not making sense.

Hi Dave
hello Sir.. agreed, some of the information being bandied about is contradictory. is it correct that there are Members and With Profits Members of LV? i'm not sure if there are two tiers of membership which could benefit from windfalls to differing degrees.

Normally its only with profits members who benefit from de mutualisation. As they are members where as others with non WP policies are not.

there doesn't seem to be any fresh news filtering out re this.. and no commentators speculating or giving their opinion as to the rights/wrongs of LV>Bain Capital.

Yes, I thought the biz media would have been all over this, are the companies still in talks or what?

if the talks had ended that would be newsworthy i'd have thought.
i think we can only assume that exclusive talks continue.

https://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/mar ... tatus.html

The exact size of the cash payouts to members remains unknown and will be determined by the company's board at a later date.

The 340,000 members who hold with-profits policies with LV= will receive a 40 per cent uplift to the pool of cash available to pay bonuses when their policies mature.

Again, the precise sum with-profits members will receive as a result of the deal will depend on the individual policy in question.
