I have loads of saved unfranked stamps, particularly from the Christmas period.
Will I trade them in ?
I'll certainly try, if they remain unused

More news on this.
Barcoded stamps are being phased in this year; the non-barcoded stamps phased out. You will still be able to use non-barcoded stamps until 31st January, 2023.

Because the new stamps are bigger, the number of stamps in a book will be changing from 12s and 6s to 8s and 4s

Royal Mail will exchange non-barcoded stamps for barcoded stamps. Royal Mail is launching a ‘Swap Out’ scheme at the end of March where you’ll be able to exchange unused non-barcoded stamps for the new barcoded variety via a Freepost address

Are you on the TNS postal panel? I am, which is one of the reasons why I have so many unused stamps (they "pay" us in stamps for some of the activities)!

Yes, although currently resting. I have plenty of stamps although I do tend to use them to send out stuff I sell on Ebay. As there is over a year before they will not be valid. I personally do not see a problem using them.

I likewise use stamps for items sold on ebay, but don't sell very much. Just experimented selling some stamps however the prices are rubbish - sale price only about 60% of face value, dropping to around 40% after fees and other costs (no promo on this occasion, unfortunately). So definitely want to be swapping as many as possible!

Yes, Stamps are plentiful on Ebay so not worth selling there at all. I suspect prices will plummet in the short term because of the Post Office announcement.

Worth buying them and exchanging them for the new stamps then

I do not want to buy them. If anything I would have a surplus rather than a deficit. I want to get a reasonable return on them if I decided to sell them.

Royal Mail will let you 'swap out' these stamps for free
You will, however, be able to exchange current stamps for barcoded ones for free under Royal Mail's new 'Swap Out' scheme, which opens on 31 March 2022 and will run until 31 March 2023.

To do this, you just need to fill in a 'Swap Out' form from its website (the page isn't live yet), or call it, or get one from a local delivery office (not a post office though). You'll then have to post back the stamps you want to swap to a Freepost address.
There is a problem with this - we have sent stamps in the post before and they got lost. When we contacted Royal Mail and tried to claim for the loss, we were told they count as cash which is not reclaimable.

If it was a sizeable amount, wouldn't using Special Delivery have this covered up to £500 ?
