many of us long-term members / 'baggers have long knocked Nationwide. the huge Director's pay, for example, has never felt very 'mutual'.

however, on the back of the Fairer Share Payment..

from their latest email Your Nationwide Newsletter, this is a positive claim to be able to make:

2026. Although this is very commendable, They fail to mention they have pulled out of the Banking Hub initiative. Although some would argue that as they are not closing any branches they do not need to be part of it.

Nationwide may not be shutting branches, but as the last bank in my town they've cut the days they open as well as the hours.
Making banking in person nearly impossible.

We go to a nearby town to have a meal, go to Tesco and buy from local shops once a week. Going over the bridge here takes forever and if we want to go to a butcher we have to travel to the far north or far west of the town to get to the only 2 butchers left in a large town. The far smaller town we visit has three butchers which all seem to be doing well. And the atmosphere is much nicer as well.

The still have a Lloyds Bank as well as a Nationwide. Lloyds shuts at 3:00 Mon to Fri but Nationwide is open 9:00 to 5:00 Mon to Fri and 9:00 to 12:00 on a Saturday. They have lost the TSB, Halifax and HSBC but I think they still have a Barclays. But that is on the far corner of the square where we never get to. Hope Lloyds stays open as I go in regularly to get change for car parks and to drop in the tin to pay for our after church coffee on a Sunday. And I get some £5 notes I exchange for £20 ones at my corner shop. Helps footfall in the bank and is useful for the shop to have some notes when handed a £20

in fairness to Nationwide, they've been quick to pay out this Switching bonus..

following the Fairer Share Payment, and with cs that can cope, as opposed to TSB who i've found to be 'nice but hopeless' recently, i do think Nationwide have become an account provider well worth 'banking' with.

I've transferred money through a FlexAccount into a Flex Regular Saver but not 10 transactions in any 2 of the qualifying months.

Has the Fairer Share benefit been commonly understood to be an annual payout? I'd assumed that last year was a one-off, otherwise might have tried harder to qualify!

I've transferred money through a FlexAccount into a Flex Regular Saver but not 10 transactions in any 2 of the qualifying months.

Has the Fairer Share benefit been commonly understood to be an annual payout? I'd assumed that last year was a one-off, otherwise might have tried harder to qualify!

I managed to get it as only 2 payments out required in the 3 months to 31.03.24 and balance over £100 in my Flexdirect account after last year much easier as offered 5% back on visa payments.
