The exact reason I ignore it.
Of course we may be wrong as we do not watch the shows

In retail and public spaces, I'd prefer the christmas music and decorations to only go live in late November. I don't mind shops getting Christmassy AFTER bonfire night, so long as it's gradual and they only go full Noddy Holder in December (or at the start of Advent if that's sooner). I understand why they start as soon as they feel they can get away with it, and I'll turn a blind eye so long as they confine it to just a small section at first.

Likewise, restaurants - they need to encourage bookings, so I understand why there might be a decorated table in the entrance quite early in the autumn.

But private homes... NO. Christmas starts in Advent. You're not trying to encourage sales or visitors, you're just writing off November. Your opinion may be different, but you're wrong.

Advent is a |Christian thing and actually starts the 4th Sunday before Christmas , so can be in November
I prefer Christmas to start on December 1st and will not buy anything before that
IDSIS has just brought some Tree shaped crumpets
And my loco Coop has Hot X Buns for sale

Tesco has Hot X Buns for sale all year round. Exactly the same recipe as currant buns but with a x on top. We could do away with Christmas and just have Easter all year round.

Christmas is also a Christian thing, exactly like Advent. Christmas begins on the 25th December and ends at Epiphany.

However, 'Christmas' has taken on another secular meaning, which is the festive period culminating in Christmas Day. It has nio specific start day, so if kev doesn't start wearing his "I'll come down YOUR chimney!" jumper until December, then that's fine (and something we should all be grateful for).

Why does anybody buy Cadbury's Creme Eggs is beyond me. I mean it is not even a half way decent chocolate.

I took SWMBO to Faro airport on Saturday. On my way back I did bit of shopping..... totally unmolested by plastic reindeer, etc. There was a half aisle of "Christmassy" fare in a couple of the supermarkets, but nothing more. In general, it could have been March. Lovely.
