Relax, words are just words, it is the essence of what you feel when you gift that is special.
Sim, então se eu decidir falar em outro idioma, é tudo bem, não é?

That'll be "give" by the way..... or perhaps you'd like to adopt American orthography completely.

Grammar and vocabulary are important to ensure comprehension.

So how do you feel about regift? :D

For what it's worth dictionary.com list both as verbs and nouns although they put noun first for gift and verb first for regift!

https://www.dictionary.com/browse/gift?s=t
https://www.dictionary.com/browse/regift?s=t
Dictionary.com is American, using Random House as its primary source - look up colour as opposed to color.

Rather like my earlier post..... if you look at most things on the web they are American, just as if you look at most things in Portuguese, what you get is Brazilian (Google translate is one....), the vocabulary and orthography are different.

Sounds like we will be debating the ‘Oxford comma’ before long
I’m against it by the way
Agreed. It just doesn't look right to me.
Oxford comma

noun

a comma used after the penultimate item in a list of three or more items, before ‘and’ or ‘or’ (e.g. an Italian painter, sculptor, and architect ).

I don't like Oxford commas; it's possible to avoid them by rewording the statement, although I can accept that if someone isn't prepared to do so then an Oxford comma tends to be preferable to an ambiguous sentence.

It depends whether or not a pause is required before continuation. Grammatically it is not required, but since a comma injects a pause that "and" does not, it may be required for effect.

PS - I first read "Oxford Conman" and thought it was another comment on the election...... :shifty:

I'll use the Oxford comma when the list items themselves feature 'something and something' as a single item in the list, or when the list is so long and convoluted that it needs an indicator of where the break is.
