Maybe we shouldn't be forced to pay for a license at all, but do it by subscription......

Over to you Mr. Cummings :shifty:

This week I've just renewed mine online. I gave my passport number and they will take the photo from that. On the form they sent me it says there is no need to submit a new photo. So everything free - except a second class stamp to send them the original cut up licence.
When I renewed there was a request to send them the original cut up. I did not do it so no stamp even therefore totally free and no follow up request to send it either. Mine is renewed every three years for medical reasons.

Okey-dokey. Good and bad points from my experience today....

A short experience.... I didn't even have to queue at my local PO, though it was a bit odd walking through a photo-me machine! 9/10

Nothing to fill in, just a few easy questions, like "what's your date of birth?". I'm not sure ehat the pass-rate is though.... 8/10

Photograph is easy..... but I didn't see it so have no idea how it looks. 3/10

Signature is a PITA, use a springy plastic stylus to sign an invisible signature on a piece of black plastic in a position you would never write in. There is a screen, but looking at that means you don't look at your hand. Three attempts to get something looking like my signature and I gave up - 1/10 (if a negative score is not allowed.)

£21.50 on the plastic and no option to retain your photocard. 2/10

So, in 5 days time (allegedly), I'll get a supposed indentifier which may have an awful picture and an unrecognizable signature.

What's the point?

Won't be long now and driving licenses will become obsolete.
