Science will win in the end (I hope): http://germagic.com/en/question.php

US EPA and Health Canada has implemented test programs to evaluate disinfectants’ efficacy against the Novel Coronavirus. The “Gold Standard”, Feline calicivirus (FCV), is recommended to be the surrogate virus to substitute SARS-CoV-2. We have already tested GERMAGIC Thyme against FCV in Australia and have achieved a >99.99% reduction rate, thus confirming GERMAGIC Thyme is effective against the Novel Coronavirus.
A staggering leap of logic there. We can't test against this virus, so we tested against another one. That was OK, so the first one is also OK even though we have not tested it and have absolutey no evidence it works.

I wonder how much else of their product is based on similar claims...

Probably less than 101%, but not much....

The only other article I found that links these to viruses is from Disinfection Technologies Group - who market a product surprisingly similar to Germagic and make the same claims.

It's total gobbledygook - FCV is NOT a coronavirus, though it does effect the airways and upper lungs....of CATS.

I would suggest that anyone if anyone uses the product and dies of COVID-19 the company owners should be prosecuted for murder. I suggest the same for all the useless mask vendors, the non-alcohol hand-wash purveyors and anyone else attempting to make money out of this crisis by scamming the vulnerable. A few show-trials might make them think twice!!

Obey the simple rules.
Keep your distance.
Wash your hands with soap and water.
Limit you contact with anyone with whom you do not share your home.

They make a product that meets a need and sell for a profit. If it wasn't for "Ker-ching!!" there would be no incentive to do it.

They justify their vast profits by claiming the cost of research.... then use Oxford to do that for them. Drug companies are bloodsuckers.

Any vaccine made as a result of this tie up is to be made on a
not for profit basis
according to BBC news at 6 today. Although I see no mention of that in articles online.

Very unlikely - it's not a sustainable model of business.

Do you think they'll not bother working on it if there's no immediate profit?

"Immediate" profits are not the thing..... nor is working on a "cost" basis in the first instance. What Astra-Zeneca want is the license..... then they can add all kinds of intangibles into the "cost base" to create a market for the vaccine worldwide. Once the first flush at "cost" is over, they can go back to their normal bloodsucking ways and extort the maximum for the rest of the lincense period..... after all, this virus is expected to be endemic........

Call me cynical....... or look what big pharma do with cancer treatments.
