I'm a bit sickened by attitudes expressed in the other thread and it looks like this virus will be around for a while. So here's a generic thread for Coronavirus/COVID-19 posts instead.

Do you remember the time, quite recently, when plastic was the absolutely, positively the worse thing ever?
And we should all but a reusable cup for getting our coffee in?
Had some emails todays, Greggs and Costa, saying they are not going t accept or refill them because of the infection risk!

My Father-in-law is 85 :shock: I said to him about staying in on Saturday and I do he;s shopping for him. he replied
Sod that! I'm 85, you think I'm worried by this, I lived through the war, Ain't no one stopping me shopping on saturday!'

Difference between now and the war is, the Germans never got here!!

I spoke to SWMBO about a someone we know who was back for a visit to the UK.... he's told his partner he'll be back to Portugal tomorrow - because there's nothing for him to do here! Go get 'em boy, infect a few people lest ye get bored!!

As I've said elsewhere, we know sod all about this particular strain of coronavirus. We know about coronavirus in general, we know about epidemics/pandemics, but this particular iteration is still being studied.

This is part of the reason why the idea of building "herd immunity" was particularly stupid, as we don't know what the impact of a second exposure to the virus may be. Sometimes antibodies created in response to an infection will block a second occurrence, sometimes they will only diminish the reaction to a second occurrence - what the case is with COVID-19, we have yet to see.
