The NHS is well prepared.
If only, too many beds taken up with coronavirus patients. Too many hospital staff at all levels ill with the virus or having to self isolate. Remaining staff are having to work overtime or on days off.
But not to worry from tomorrow the NHS will get an extra £350million a week. Boris Johnson promised this and we know he is a man of his word.

Why were the Nightingale Hospitals built ?
https://metro.co.uk/2020/10/09/are-the- ... 20June%204.
NHS England, said of their inactivity: ‘We have not yet had to make extensive use of the Nightingale London thanks to the hard work of NHS staff – who have freed up more than 30,000 existing hospital beds… ‘It will count as a huge success for the whole country if we never need to use them, but with further waves of coronavirus possible it is important that we have these extra facilities in place and treating patients.’ In June, it was believed that the Harrogate location was being used as an outpatient clinic for radiology patients. As of mid-November, reports said that only the Exeter Nightingale hospital is being used. From 8am to 8pm each day, its facilities are used to screen cancer patients. As of December 30, MailOnline reports that 28 Covid patients are currently receiving treatment at Exeter’s Nightingale hospital. The same data shows that three of the seven hospitals – Manchester, Bristol and Harrogate – have not received a single Covid patient throughout the pandemic. However, NHS hospitals are said to be overwhelmed with coronavirus cases as the UK heads into 2021 – so these figures could change rapidly.

According to yesterday's East Anglian Daily Times, the ICUs in both Colchester and Ipswich are "full" (

That doesn't sound too "well prepared"......................
Just because I'm paranoid, it doesn't mean they're not out to get me

They could use the Nightingale hospitals. Oh wait a moment they would need staffing wouldn't they. I heard Essex hospitals have had to turn to Army Medics to help out. So the question remains what was the point of the Nightingale hospitals.
And why vaccinate 80+ ahead of the hospital and care home staff? These people are at high risk and amongst people who could pass on the virus far more than the 80+

Nightingale hospitals were essentially thrown together for publicity. Johnson and his crew of incompetents noticed China building an actual functioning hospital in a remarkably short time and realised the press would obediently salute him just for putting some beds into vacant exhibition centres.

Regarding Army Medics being operational in civilian hospitals. This isn't anything new, Army medics (I assume the same's for Navy and RAF Staff) train and operate as civilian staff in hospitals when not on operations.
Me thinks that the government likes to point this out as acting positively in a bad situation, whilst doing begger all, and the media laps it up without doing checks.
As for Sarah's response on the Nightingales, spot on.
