Clothes sizes

A Radio 4 prog about this. A large amount of clothes returned from online shopping is due to clothes not fitting.
What I cannot understand is why the larger the person the longer the arms. Do they think the taller you are the more likely you are to be fatter? Or do they think the fatter you are the longer your arms?

The sizes have not reflected the change in body types.

Just like Trumpworld, no one has any idea how many illegal immigrants there are in the UK. It is not even known if the estimate has any basis in reality.
