21 October 1805 British Admiral Horatio Nelson defeats a combined French and Spanish fleet at the Battle of Trafalgar. Nelson was shot through the left shoulder and died during the sea battle.

World Development Information Day
Every year, on 24-October, World Development Information Day is celebrated by United Nations. It was officially designated in 1972 as the official day. Its establishment was designed to keep people attentive to the development goals and problems and strengthen their internal cooperation to solve them.

United Nations Day
United Nations Day is celebrated to mark the United Nations’ annual ceremony established in 1945. On this day, United Nations Charter was finalized by majorities involving five security council members. It helped the permanent establishment of the United Nations.

United we stand, divided we fall. The United Nations’ goal is to keep peace and security among countries, friendly relationships, social progress, human rights, and better living standards.

World Cities Day
The United Nations General Assembly designated 31 October as World Cities Day, by its resolution 68/239. The Day is expected to greatly promote the international community’s interest in global urbanization, push forward cooperation among countries in meeting opportunities addressing challenges of urbanization and contributing to sustainable urban development around the world.

SAMHAIN (pronounced Sow-in) Wiccan Pagan SAMHUINN Druid
The Celtic wheel of the year turns and the veil between life and death is drawn aside. Samhain is the festival of death when Pagans remember and honour those who have gone before. Fires are lit and ‘dead wood’ is burned before stepping into the darkness of winter.

The wheel of the year is seen to begin at Samhain. Pagans celebrate death as part of life. This is not a time of fear, but a time to understand more deeply that life and death are part of a sacred whole.

HALLOWE'EN Heathen
Halloween / Hallowe’en is a holiday celebrated on the night of October 31. Traditional activities include trick-or-treating, bonfires, costume parties, visiting ‘haunted houses’, and carving jack-o-lanterns. Irish and Scottish immigrants carried versions of the tradition to North America in the nineteenth century. Other western countries embraced the theme in the late twentieth century including Ireland, the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico and the United Kingdom as well as of Australia and New Zealand.
